3 Great Questions to Ask Your Kia Dealer

Jun 7, 2018

With 16 models for 2018 and an excellent certified pre-owned selection, your local Kia dealer is sure to have just what you’re looking to buy. Before you sign on the dotted line, however, make sure to ask the right questions to get the best deal possible.

What Are the Details of the Loan/Lease?

Before dealerships started to offer agreeable loan terms, you typically had to secure financing at a financial institution. Today’s dealer incentives and sales have made in-house loans affordable and convenient. However, you shouldn’t sign on the dotted line until you know all the details of your lease or loan.

In most instances, a dealership will quote you a monthly payment, and unless you ask about other details, that might be the only information you receive. While getting a monthly payment to fit your budget is nice, you still need to know how much you’ll pay over the life of the loan, the amount of interest paid, and the length of the loan. Without answers to these questions, you might find you’re paying way more than you bargained for.

Where Can I Repair My Car?

Kia has one of the best warranties in the industry, offering a 10-year, 10,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and a 5-year, 60,000-mile basic limited warranty. These two warranties guarantee that if anything falls into disrepair that’s out of your control within that timeframe, Kia will fix it for free.

However, there’s always some red tape surrounding warranties, and although you might have your favorite mechanic, the warranty often stipulates that you need to take your car to a Kia-certified repair center. Be sure to ask about this issue, and for the sake of convenience, inquire about which center is closest to your home or work.

Has the Car Been Involved in an Accident?

Buying a certified pre-owned Kia is a sound investment, as each of these models undergoes a rigorous test to ensure they are mechanically and cosmetically sound. That said, it’s still important to know if the vehicle’s been involved in any accidents, as it may cause mechanical issues further down the road.

If possible, ask for a Carfax report, which has detailed information about any incidents involving the car, whether it was ever registered as a junk/salvage title, the odometer reading, and if it was ever a fleet car. Armed with this information, you can make an educated decision about whether or not to purchase the car.

While many car buyers seem to have a horror story or two when dealing with car salesmen, you don’t have to fall victim to any of their tactics or games. In fact, most car dealerships are there to help you find the perfect vehicle to fit your needs and budget. By asking the right questions, being straightforward, and putting a bit of trust in the staff at Parkside Kia, you will be sure to find the Kia you’ve always wanted.
