The update will feature a refreshed exterior and interior, as well as some upgraded mechanical features. The newly-redesigned Sportage hit the market in the second half of this year. The vehicle has always gotten good fuel economy — an EPA-estimated 23 miles per gallon city and 30 miles per gallon highway, but buyers can expect to see a new infotainment package, new safety features, updated interior finishes, and a modernized exterior design.

Exterior

Kia has made subtle changes to the exterior design of the 2018 Sportage, giving it a more dynamic, extroverted sensibility. The wheel arches are more prominent, and the tiger-nose grille and elongated headlights will turn heads. Satin silver touches, sleek contours, and a coupe-like roof lend a touch of elegance to the overall appearance of the vehicle. Available dynamic bending headlights help you see as you drive around corners and curves. Available LED rear combination lamps will enhance the Sportage’s nighttime appearance.

Interior

The 2018 Kia Sportage features soft-touch interior materials for the seats with scientifically calibrated touch points for increased comfort and support. All the displays and control buttons are within easy reach of the six-way adjustable driver’s seat. The steering column comes standard with tilt and telescoping, and power windows with one-touch auto-down are also standard. Storage options include front and rear center consoles, as well as an under-rear-cargo storage compartment and driver and passenger seatback pockets. The back-row seat is a 60/40 split and can be laid flat for additional rear cargo space.

Safety Features

Kia has loaded the 2018 Sportage with plenty of passive and active safety features. The chassis is constructed of high-strength steel, giving it superb rigidity. Front and side airbags surround the cabin, and side-impact door beams and front and rear crumple zones protect the driver and passengers in the event of a collision. Standard active safety features include an anti-lock braking system, brake assist system, downhill brake control, and electronic brake-force distribution, all of which help in emergency braking situations. Also included are a hill start assist, traction control system, and tire-pressure monitoring system.

Infotainment

The 2018 Kia Sportage really shines when it comes to its newly-upgraded infotainment package. The base model features a 5.0-inch touch-screen display, but you can upgrade to the available 7.0-inch color touchscreen with UVO connectivity. Or go for the voice-command UVO with 8.0-inch touch-screen display for hands-free calling, navigation, roadside assistance, and music. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available, as are Bluetooth and a Harmon Kardon eight-speaker surround sound audio system. SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Travel Link are available, as are USB and auxiliary input.

The 2018 Kia Sportage has undergone a facelift and now sports a new exterior style, interior comfort, advanced safety features, and exciting infotainment options. Starting at $23,600, this affordable crossover utility vehicle is an outgoing everyday driver with good performance and fuel economy.
