Trim Levels (Exterior)

The 2019 Sportage is available in three trim levels: LX, EX, and SX Turbo. The EX is a pleasant bump up in comfort and luxury compared to the standard LX trim, with many optional features that customize the SUV's interior and body. The SX Turbo replaces the baseline engine with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and includes all the best options available on the EX, plus some exclusive premium entertainment technology. </br></br> Standard exterior features for the Sportage LX include chrome and body color trim, power side mirrors, a sound-absorbing front windshield, heatable rear privacy glass, LED running lights, and 17-inch wheels. Upgrading to the EX adds gloss black body accents, roof rails, heatable side mirrors, and 18-inch wheels with an optional chrome gray finish. Lastly, the SX Turbo builds on the EX with satin chrome body accents, a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, and an automatic hands-free liftgate, which is also an option on EX models.

Engine (Power)

There are two engines available for the 2019 Sportage. First is the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower, 171 pound-feet of torque, and 26 combined miles per gallon in front-wheel drive. Exclusive to the SX Turbo is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque, and 23 combined mpg in front-wheel drive. All trim levels can be upgraded to all-wheel drive with a locking center differential.

Performance

The Sportage stays smooth and graceful on the highway, with a tight turn radius and responsive steering well-suited to navigating city traffic. One of the best parts of owning a Sportage is the well-insulated interior that cuts down on vibrations and noise at high speeds, making it easy for passengers to relax. All trim levels come with a convenient set of drive modes, and the EX trim offers steering wheel paddle shifters, which are standard on the SX Turbo.

Interior

Both the front and rear seat rows hold plenty of space for adult passengers, and the front dashboard is attractive and laid out with convenient controls for the infotainment and audio system. The EX adds leather seat upholstery and heating functions for the front row, plus a 7-inch touchscreen system in place of the baseline 5-inch screen, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. </br></br> Drivers with a passion for convenience and entertainment should consider the SX Turbo, which adds the Kia UVO service suite and an 8-inch touchscreen with voice command navigation, plus a Harman/Kardon premium surround-sound audio system.

Safety Features

No matter the trim level, 2019 Sportage models come with vehicle stability and traction control, hill-start assist, downhill brake control, and full-length rollover airbags. Moving up to the EX or SX Turbo adds active collision prevention features, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts. The SX specifically comes with parking assistance with front and rear sensors, autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warnings, which are available on the EX trim.
